Essentially, I have been a teacher in one capacity or another for most of my adult life. I have taught courses and classes in acting and improv. I was a substitute teacher for years and whilst living in Europe, I supplemented my income with teaching (ESL). I believe in teaching as an ongoing enterprise in anyone’s life and I’ve never learned half as much from studying as I have from teaching.

Fresh out of university, Los Angeles and Culver City Unified School Districts in California were desperate for substitue teachers. All that was required was to hold a degree and pass a test. As an aspiring actor, I needed flexible, we-paying work that would allow me to take on auditions when they came. I worked as a substitute for four years and taught all levels from kindergarten to 18 yrs old.

After moving to Prague in early 2000, I quickly took up work as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. I taught all manner of student from government and corporate executives, to children and young people and everyone in between. I worked for several language schools initially but eventually collected a group of my own clients and students. Most of whom I taught for nearly 8 years in total.
I personally taught, easily 100 people the English language and it’s usage and in turn it made me a better commicator in English myself… and I learned to speak fluent Czech in the process!
